Sirat

Privacy Policy

How Sirat handles your data in a simple, privacy-first way.

Last updated: June 21, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Sirat uses your device's location to calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and show nearby mosques. Depending on the feature, coordinates may be sent to Sirat's backend, which may call third-party APIs to return results. Sirat does not maintain a long-term location database for users.

Sirat also uses device capabilities and permission state (location, notifications, and audio/session behavior) to provide app features. Notification preferences and core app preferences are stored locally on your device. Sirat does not collect usage telemetry for notifications.

2. Account & Cloud Sync (Optional)

Signing in is entirely optional — Sirat works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in using Apple or Google, your identity is authenticated through a third-party authentication provider. Your Apple or Google credentials are never sent to Sirat's servers; the provider issues a session token that Sirat uses to associate your data.

When signed in, the following data is synced to Sirat's backend: prayer log, habits and habit log, prayer settings, app theme, Quran reading progress, bookmarks, reading mode, display settings, and Ramadan tracker entries.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all cloud-stored sync data and your account record from Sirat's servers.

3. How We Use the Internet

Sirat calls backend endpoints for dua matching, prayer times, holiday data, and mosque lookup; backend services may call trusted APIs when needed. Sirat also streams Quran audio from online sources.

4. Data Retention

App data such as settings, notification preferences, prayer-time caches, Quran bookmarks/progress, dua history, and Ramadan tracker entries are stored locally on your device. You can clear this data by uninstalling the app or resetting local app storage.

If you sign in, your sync data (see Section 2) is additionally stored on Sirat's backend and retained until you delete your account. Deleting your account permanently removes all cloud-stored data.

5. Security

All data transmitted between the app and Sirat's backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Account session tokens are stored securely on your device. While no system is perfectly secure, Sirat takes reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Third-Party Services

Sirat does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Sirat does not use analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs. Third-party services used for app functionality may include Google Maps/Places, Aladhan, OpenAI, Expo services, and a third-party authentication provider for optional sign-in. Review their privacy policies for details.

7. Children's Privacy

Sirat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Sirat after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
